Should I Sleep

Mavericks Compatibility

We have found and fixed a bug that keeps Should I Sleep from properly terminating the camera sensor TEST (the Try button on the Face Detection and Camera Motion preferences dialogs). The 1.8.2 update is currently waiting for review on the Mac App Store and should be available soon.

This bug shouldn’t affect the regular use of Should I Sleep and its sleep prevention capabilities. If you ware having any problem not related to the test mode, please, follow this instructions.

I suggest you to read this page as it may already have your question addressed. In any case, if you’re in a hurry and have a support request, email our technical support. We do answer.

I lost my purchases

Go to Should I Sleep menu and click on Restore Purchases. If, for some reason, you have reinstalled everything in your Mac or even want to install the app on a new Mac, please, install Should I Sleep using the same user name and password you originally used to buy the sensors.

Should I Sleep doesn’t work

First of all, if you want to use Face Detection, disable your screen saver. The “Prevent by Time” (caffeine mode) DOES prevent screen savers but, for internal technical constraints, sensor detection does NOT.

As a note, screen savers were created in the days where displays had burned pixels after a long exposition to the same static image. Nowadays they are not only unneeded but they also waste energy. Also, we usually don’t even see all the beauty of them, since when they start we’re away from the computer.

How can I test it?

To do a quick test on a real sleep condition, open System Preferences, Energy Saver and set the Display Sleep to 1 minute. Then just wait without touching the mouse or keyboard. On Mountain Lion you’ll see a notification message showing the progress of the detection. On version 1.5.1 we have added also a test button for each of the sensors in the preferences screen.

Does Should I Sleep work on my computer?

Should I Sleep requires Mac OS X version 10.7.3 (Lion) or above, including the new Mountain Lion 10.8. As long as your operating system is supported, it will run on your computer — be it a Mac mini, MacBook, iMac or Mac Pro.

I have more than one computer. Do I need to buy several licenses?

No, you only need to purchase once. If you want to install on another Mac, just open the Mac App Store and login with the same user name and password you used to purchase. Then, install Should I Sleep, open it and go to the menu Restore Sensors. You won’t be charged again.

Do you have a trial or demo version for download?

The Mac App Store does not have a trial policy. But we have added to the app preferences options to test each additional sensor before you buy. We also have screenshots and a demo video.

Menu items are grayed out – Fixed on 1.0.5

This is a bug that happens under rare circumstances and we have fixed it in the version 1.0.5 which is currently pending approval from Apple – as of October 30, 2012. It may take some time for it to get published on the App Store. Apple does not give expected dates for this. Meanwhile, if that happens to you, open Activity Monitor, click on Should I Sleep, Quit Process and restart it.

How can I choose which camera to use? – Added to 1.5.1

Currently, Should I Sleep only works with the default camera on your system. We are working on an update that will allow you to select you preferred camera.

MacBook Pro’s Graphics Card – Fixed on 1.5.1

Some App Store reviewers have reported that on MacBook Pro with dual graphic modes Should I Sleep switch to the discrete graphics card instead of using the internal one. We think we already have a fix for that, but we need some user to test it before we release the update. Unfortunately, none of those reviewers has ever sent a support email so that we can get in touch. Drop us a line if you want to be a tester.

Should I Sleep doesn’t start – Fixed on 1.0.4

Thanks to user feedback, we have found a bug that prevented Should I Sleep from starting on Mac OS X Lion 10.7. We already have that fixed (as of Oct 25, 2012) and from version 1.0.4 on Should I Sleep starts without any problems.

Do you have a Windows version?

This application is technically dependent on the Mac OS X internals. Developing on another platform means analyzing another operating system’s API and building new source code from scratch. So, we do not have plans for a Windows version right now.

Did I Click

Does Did I Click work on my computer?

Did I Click requires Mac OS X version 10.7 (Lion) or above, including the new Mountain Lion 10.8.

Then look for Did I Click and install it. You won’t be charged again.

Do you have a trial or demo version for download?

The Mac App Store does not have a trial policy. Since the product is so simple and cheap, we decided not to do create a limited version for download. But we do have screenshots and a demonstration video.

Can I hide the menu bar icon?

Without the menu bar icon the only way to close the application would be opening Activity Monitor and click on Quit Process. Since this operation is not at all user friendly, we did not include such option in the preferences screen. But if you really need that precious spot, you can open Terminal, type the line below and restart Did I Click.

defaults write br.com.mrmilk.Did-I-Click showMenuIcon false

Do you have a Windows version?

This application is technically dependent on the Mac OS X internals. Developing on another platform means analyzing another operating system’s API and building new source code from scratch. Depending on the market demand we “may” consider that.
